MARCH ETSY GIVE AWAY!!

YAY! Another give away!!!!
This month its a great give away with an Etsy interview and all! Don't we all love Etsy interviews? I know I do!
The Curious Rabbit is joining us from Etsy this month! She has a lovely photography shop on Etsy!

Introduce yourself!
My name is Zoe Stewart. I grew up in Edinburgh, but now I live in the Scottish countryside with my husband and 3 cats. I have a love for photography, shoes and all things quirky.

What advice would you give to artists who are new to Etsy?

Take awesome photographs, and use all your slots. Be proud of what you make and sell, and that will inspire others to buy and be confident in your store, and of course, have fun!

How do you promote your work?
I have business cards, which I hand out and put in packages when I can. Friends and family hand them out to their friends for me. I also have a little blog, http://www.thecuriousrabbit.blogger.com/, its about my life, my friends, things I love and everything I do, including work and snippets of things that inspire me and things that are on their way.

What is your inspiration?
Old & new methods, I am currently working on a through the viewfinder series, I love the vintage appeal to photographs. I just managed to find myself TWO vintage kodak brownie cameras for such a task, I am having a lot of fun learning. I also love flowers, nature, old buildings and of course children, who are so unpredictable. They make photography fun. I have a wall in my workroom that packed full of clippings, photos, links, magazines, artists and colours that I am in love with.

What is your earliest memory of making something as a child?

It was a mothers day card for my mum, about how she could relax and I would take care of her. I was 4 and very thoughtful, or so I thought and I taped a teabag to a card as a mothers day gift, with a drawn teapot on it. She still has it...

How did you come up with your shop name?

I have always been pretty curious (or nosy if you had asked my husband this question) about everything, if I am interested in it I will research it to exhaustion until I know everything I need and wanted to know, My husband has always called me a nosy bunny… So a little play on words one morning and The Curious Rabbit was just right.

Do you sell in anywhere else other than Etsy?

I have my own website, www.wix.com/thecuriousrabbit/photography which is a work in progress. I don’t use it for selling but more for promotion, I take bookings for my portrait sessions and answer emails from there. it’s a start to showing off my portfolio and showing parents how I work. I would love to have my photographs on a wall somewhere one day. That would be AWESOME!

Are you disciplined or do you go with the flow and work when you feel like it?
I would LOVE to have the discipline that others have, but unfortunately my brain has its own routine of work, which I don’t get a say in. I work with the weather too, if it’s a beautiful day, I’ll get ready and pop out for the day with my camera, take some shots, and do what ever I need to when I get home. But on not so nice days like we have had lately I will spend it at home, updating things and editing things. Although before I get to spend the day taking photographs and being fun. I have a few things to do, like clean up.

What is your favourite thing to make?
My postcard sets. I love them, and the fact that people send them to other people and my photos will possibly making their way across the world! I send postcards to friends quite a lot, I think they speak more than an email, and I LOVE getting mail, the first thing I do each morning is check the post-box, so yep, postcards…
How do you make time for everything you want to do?
A little planning, My husband just finished 12 years in the army, so we have a lot of solid plans. We recently moved house from York to our home Scottish Borders (near Edinburgh) and are both looking for work, so we’ve had a LOT of spare time on our hands and recently had time to do things we wouldn’t normally. Like visit Prague for my birthday and family in London. But organising and the time frame we have, we can pretty much fit everything in just now. But, when we both work full time, our weekends are filled with friends and family visits, and fish and chips at the seaside.

Anything else you'd like to tell us about yourself?
Hhmm… is there anything else you’d like to know?I’m a UK 3 in a shoe..... just incase, you know, you wanted to know!
Thanks Zoe!!!

If you have any questions you would like to add to our interview let us know and we can include them in future interviews! We wanna find out what you want to know!

Besides the postcards which are above,
The Red Skies at Night print is just what I'd love,
We have a saying about sailor's delight,
similar to shepherd's... I guess they're both right!
